What is
Seated Acupressure Therapy (SAT)?
(A Meridian-Based Massage Therapy)
Modern day Seated Acupressure is a hybrid of the ancient Oriental massage arts of Anma and Shiatsu.
Anma ~ A traditional Japanese massage involving kneading and deep tissue work.
Shiatsu ~ A Japanese form of vigorous massage that uses fingers to apply acupressure to points along the body's energy pathways (meridians).
Meridians ~ In traditional Chinese medicine, meridians are invisible pathways, or channels on the body. Our vital energy, or "chi", is thought to flow along these meridians, and anything that disrupts the smooth flow of "chi" is said to cause illness.

The 12 Major Meridians
Seated Acupressure is also referred to as On-Site, or Chair Massage.
It is a meridian based therapy in which thumb, finger, elbow and knuckle pressure are used over many of the acupressure points on the 12 major meridians accessible on the back, arms, hands, neck, head and legs.
Acupressure ~ The treatment of symptoms by applying pressure with the fingers to specific pressure points on the body.

Stimulate and Balance
This technique helps to stimulate and balance the flow of
energy, or life-force, throughout the body. In turn this stimulates the circulatory, muscular, nervous, immune and
lymphatic systems whilst promoting the release of endorphins and important mood-regulating neurotransmitters. The client is left feeling good in a relaxed, but energised and in a clearly focused frame of mind.

Buzzing With Energy
Traditionally, the basic treatment that is given lasts no more than 20 minutes, which makes Seated Acupressure the ideal modality for the busy workplace environment where employees benefit from this quick, dynamic de-stressing therapy and can return to their desks buzzing with energy.
The length of treatment may be extended or reduced by increasing or decreasing the number of repetitions accordingly.

All You Need Is A Chair
Using just a simple office chair allows me to have easy access to the client's acupressure points without removal of clothing or the use of oils. As a result, in many of today's busiest environments such as airports, shopping arcades, spas and fitness centres, Seated Acupressure practitioners can be found practising their fluid, choreographed sequence, or 'Kata', on a grateful and willing public. 'Kata' is a Japanese word describing detailed choreographed patterns of movements practised either solo, or in pairs.
Fastest Growing Industry
Throughout the last decade, increasing numbers of people have benefited from this amazingly effective therapy which is one of the fastest growing in the Complimentary Therapy Industry.
